UNISON has 1,200 branches in the UK. A branch is made up of all its members. Some members are elected by their workforce to play different roles, including:
Branch Chair: Preeti Sood (AUB)
Facilitates Branch and committee meetings.
Branch Secretary: Ali Ebrahimi-Sabet (BU)
The main contact person with the wider union who handles Branch administration.
Branch Treasurer: Adam Wright (BU)
Responsible for managing Branch finances, including keeping accounts.
Branch Communications Officer: Michael Rogers (BU)
Co-ordinates Branch newsletters, websites and other media.
Health & Safety Officer: Adam Wright (BU)
Campaigns around Health & Safety Issues for the Branch
Health & Safety Reps: Julie Liddell (BU), Ali Ebrahimi-Sabet (BU), Gillian Kelly (BU), Peter Coles (BU)
Equalities Co-ordinator: Louise Hall (AUB)
Works on equal rights issues including sex, race, disability and LGBT issues.
Membership Officer: Tom Hollingum (BU)
Keeps track of the branch’s membership and works to develop recruitment and organising.
Environmental Officer: Philip Leahy-Harland (BU)
Promotes and ensures the union and connected employers are committed to supporting responsible and sustainable environmental practices, and that any environmental impact is limited to as close to zero as possible.
